Rabat (prefecture)

Rabat ( Arabic عمالة الرباط) is a prefecture in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region on the Atlantic coast of Morocco . It is located on the south bank of the Bou-Regreg opposite the Salé prefecture and forms the core city of Rabat . The prefecture has 577,827 inhabitants (2014).

Before the administrative reform of 2015 , the Rabat prefecture was part of the Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer region .
