Assa-Zag Province in the Guelmim-Es Semara Region

Assa-zag ( Arabic إقليم آسا - الزاك; Central Atlas Tamazight ⵜⴰⵙⴳⴰ ⵏ ⴰⵙⵙⴰ-ⴰⵥⴰⴳ Tasga n Assa-Aẓag ) is a province in Morocco . It has belonged to the Guelmim-Oued Noun region since the administrative reform of 2015 (previously to Guelmim-Es Semara ) and is located in the extreme south of the country, on the borders with Algeria and Western Sahara . The 20,645 km² and largely desert-like province has a total of only 44,124 inhabitants (2014).
