Aousserd (province)

The province of Aousserd ( Arabic إقليم أوسرد) is an administrative unit in the Western Sahara, which is occupied and annexed by Morocco. It has around 21,000 inhabitants and has belonged to the Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab region since 2015 (previously to Oued ed Dahab-Lagouira ). The capital is Bir Gandouz .

The province of Aousserd consists of six parishes , including one urban parish: Lagouira.

The remaining five rural communities are divided into five caïdats and two counties:

geography

The province is located in the desert of the subtropical high pressure belt. The drive through the area is partly reminiscent of a normal steppe .
