Meknes (prefecture)
Meknes ( Arabic عمالة مكناس تافيلالت) is an independent prefecture of Morocco . It has belonged to the Fès-Meknès region (previously Meknès-Tafilalet ) since the administrative reform of 2015 and is located in the middle of the country, between Rabat and Fès . The population is 713,609 (2004).
Attractions
The city of Meknes itself, the pilgrimage site of Moulay Idriss and the ruins of the neighboring Roman city of Volubilis are of tourist interest .
