Ouezzane ( Arabic إقليم وزان) is a newly created province in Morocco in 2009 from parts of the provinces of Sidi Kacem and Chefchaouen . It has belonged to the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region since the administrative reform of 2015 (previously to the Tanger-Tétouan region ). The province has 304,528 inhabitants (2004) with an area of ​​approx. 1861 km².

The province of Ouezzane is located in the southwestern foothills of the northern Moroccan Rif mountains in the transition to the fertile Rharb or Gharb plain.

economy

The province of Ouezzane is predominantly agriculturally oriented; The main products are olives and olive oil.

Actually only the place Ouezzane itself is of marginal tourist importance. Hikes are possible in the nearby forests.
