The province of Berrechid ( Arabic إقليم برشيد) has been part of the Moroccan region of Casablanca-Settat (previously Chaouia-Ouardigha ) since 2015 . The capital of the province, which was created in 2009 through the separation of territories from the province of Settat, is the city of Berrechid .

The province of Berrechid borders the Grand Casablanca region to the north, the Ben Slimane province to the northeast, the Settat province to the south and the El Jadida province to the west . A north-western coastal strip borders the Atlantic .

population

The region's population has increased more than tenfold since the 1920s, with a large part of the increase being due to the - still ongoing - immigration from the Berber regions of southern Morocco. A large proportion of the population, more than 80% of whom are of Berber origin , work in the countryside or as small businesses in the cities.
