The Guelmim-Oued Noun region ( Arabic كلميم - واد نون) is one of the 12 regions of Morocco that were created after an administrative reform in 2015 . The name of the region is derived from the town of Guelmim and the Oued Noun river . The capital of the region is the city of Guelmim.

location

The region extends in the south of the kingdom near the border with the Western Sahara areas, which have been occupied since 1975/76, at altitudes between 0 and about 1200 m above sea level. d. M. The region essentially comprises the western foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains, a coastal strip on the Atlantic Ocean with the city of Sidi Ifni and the region north of the politically disputed Western Sahara areas.
