The Refugio Postero Alto is next to the Refugio Poqueira the only managed mountain hut in the Spanish Sierra Nevada and is located at an altitude of 1990 m on its north side.
Approach
The refuge can be reached by car on a gravel road in half an hour from Jérez del Marquesado . The mostly parallel hiking trail takes 4–5 hours.
While in summer it is a technically relatively easy, albeit physically demanding, hike, from November to April it may be useful to use crampons , snowshoes or skis to get to the hut.
Furnishing
The Refugio Postero Alto has 64 beds, as well as an additional, unmanaged winter room with 12 mattress dormitories and an emergency radio. There is a washroom and toilet room with running cold water. The kitchen is managed continuously during opening hours and a self-catering kitchen is also available. Early reservation is recommended on weekends and during good weather periods.
