Reggiane Re. 2007
The Reggiane Re.2007 was a project developed by Reggiane for a single-seat fighter with a jet engine .
history
The design team around Ing. Roberto Longhi began work in October 1943. Component production for the MM.541 prototype began shortly afterwards. A German Junkers Jumo 004 was planned as the engine . Longhi did not receive more detailed construction details of the Jumo 004 and installation instructions until January 1944. Captain Bohm, an Air Force engineer at Reggiane, was unable to reach a decision regarding the specific delivery dates for two Jumo 004s promised by the Air Force.
In October 1944 the components were transported together with the Reggiane Re. 2006 , another hunter project, to Taliedo in the Caproni works because of the war situation . With the intervention of Count Gianni Caproni , the two engines were finally delivered. However, they never reached the factory. Rumor has it that they were stolen and sold on the metal goods black market in Milan.
