Avgustyn Voloshyn III government

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The government avgustyn voloshyn III , led by Prime Minister avgustyn voloshyn ( Ukrainian Авґустин Волошин , Czech Augustin Vološin ), was the fourth government of the Carpathian Ukraine , the autonomous part of the state of Czechoslovakia from 1938 to 1939. She was in office from March 6, 1939 to March 15, 1939. It followed the Avgustyn Voloschyn II government and - after independence was proclaimed - replaced by the Yulian Revay government.

Government formation

During the short term of office of Voloshyn's third government, the activities of the pro-fascist organization Karpatská Sič ( Karpati Sitsch / Карпатська Січ) intensified. Similar to the Hlinka Garden in Slovakia, the Sič became an instrument of German politics with the aim of smashing Czecho-Slovakia. On March 13, 1939, the Sič attempted a coup, which was thwarted the following night by the units of the Czechoslovak army under the command of General Prchala . The proclamation of the Slovak state on March 14, 1939 and the attack by Hungarian units along the demarcation line in the south also marked the fall of the autonomous Carpathian Ukraine.

Government composition

The ministers were in office throughout the regular term of office (March 6, 1939 to March 15, 1939) unless otherwise stated.

Remarks

  1. The composition of the four governments of the autonomous Carpathian Ukraine and the only government of the independent Ukraine in 1938/1939 can only be read with reservations. The documents, especially about the last short-lived governments, are very imprecise and sometimes contradict each other considerably. For safety reasons, appropriate instructions are given by the individual governments using alternative sources. Both Ukrainian and Czech sources were used, as the autonomous Carpathian Ukraine was de facto part of Czecho-Slovakia and its governments were also subordinate to the central government in Prague. The fact that in many cases the individual ministers did not determine all areas of competence from the beginning and not all areas of competence are mentioned in the documents also makes things more difficult.
