Government of Bourguiba I
The Bourguiba I government was the first after Tunisia's independence from France and was formed shortly after the appointment of the leader of the Neo Destur party , Habib Bourguiba , as prime minister . Bourguiba was appointed Prime Minister on April 11, 1956 as the successor to Tahar ben Ammar to replace his government . On April 15, 1956, Bourguiba presented his cabinet, which remained in office until Bourguiba took office as President of the Tunisian Republic on July 25, 1957.
