Regine Hess

Regine Hess is a German diplomat . She has been Ambassador to Tanzania since the end of 2019 .

career

After graduating from high school in 1983, Regine Heß studied business administration, history and political science in Munich and Aix-en-Provence until 1990. This was followed by a year-long study at the Europa-Kolleg in Brussels.

In 1992 Hess joined the foreign service and completed the preparatory service for the higher foreign service until 1994. After working in the Foreign Office (1994–1996) and in the Representation of the State of Brandenburg in Bonn (1996–1997), the next stages of her career were the embassies in Sarajevo (1997–2000) and Belgrade (2000–2002). From 2002 to 2006 she worked again in the Foreign Office.

Her first assignment in Africa from 2006 was Kampala in Uganda , where she was deputy head of the embassy. In 2009 he moved to the Nairobi Embassy in Kenya .

Back at the Foreign Office, Heß was Deputy Head of the Department for Bilateral and EU Relations with the Sahel and Central Africa from 2011 to 2015 . During this time she worked briefly in 2013 at the German embassy in Niamey ( Niger ).

In 2015 Regine Heß went to the embassy in Abuja ( Nigeria ) as deputy head . At the end of 2019 she was appointed ambassador in Dar es Salaam ( Tanzania ), as the successor to Detlef Wächter.
