Regine Ulmann (1938 or earlier)

Regine Ulmann , pseudonyms Gertrud Bürger and Agnes Thal , actually Regine Kohn , (born September 1, 1847 in Vienna ; † March 13, 1939 there ) was an Austrian editor and school director.

Life

Regine Ulmann received private lessons. In 1886/7, when she was just 19, she co-founded the “Girls Support Association”, of which she later became director.

Within the civil women's movement, Ulmann was the closest collaborator of Marianne Hainisch , the founder of the Federation of Austrian Women's Associations . Together with her and Anitta Müller-Cohen, she opened the World Conference of Jewish Women in the Vienna Hofburg in 1923. Among other things, it was decided to establish the Jewish World Women's Association. In August 1938, Regine Ulmann, over ninety years of age, was the last president of the social association that was forcibly dissolved by the National Socialists. The association was also a member of the Federation of Austrian Women's Associations: on the occasion of her fortieth service anniversary as director of one of the many association schools, Ulman was honored by Gisela Urban with the words: "Your name shines in the forefront of Austrian champions for women's rights" (published in Der Bund , IX. Vol. 5, May 1914, pp. 10-11). But she was also active in the field of Jewish welfare and within the non-denominational, bourgeois-liberal women's movement for life.

Ulmann was editor-in-chief of Das Blatt der Hausfrau , publisher of the Practical Adviser of Wiener Mode and a permanent employee of the Neue Wiener Tagblatt , Wiener Mode and others. She wrote about women's issues, education and handicrafts and published e.g. B. The debit and credit of the housewife (1897), The linen cupboard , linen album of Viennese fashion and course in pattern drawing for linen and children's wardrobe .
