The Göttingen region is formed by the districts of Göttingen and Northeim and the city of Göttingen as the regional center .

Cooperations

The region is shaped by the Georg-August University and numerous highly specialized medium-sized companies that are globally positioned (e.g. Otto Bock HealthCare GmbH ). Institutions such as the Association for Education Region Südniedersachsen (originated from the Regionalverband Südniedersachsen in March 2017), the waste disposal association South Lower Saxony, the Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Süd-Niedersachsen and the Landschaftsverband Südniedersachsen are entrusted by the districts and the city of Göttingen with performing joint tasks.
