The Region Leinebergland eV was founded in 2015 with the aim of sustainably improving living conditions in the Leinebergland by strengthening regional cooperation. The founding members are the municipalities of Alfeld (Leine) , Duingen , Elze , Freden (Leine) , Leinebergland , Lamspringe and Sibbesse in the Hildesheim district and Delligsen in the Holzminden district .

aims

The challenges in rural areas are, under the influence of demographic change and migration to metropolitan areas, in securing the quality of life locally. According to the motto “stronger together”, the regional association bundles regional issues and processes them in a network of actors comprising municipalities, economic and social partners and citizens. The aim is to sustainably develop the region in areas such as tourism, economy, mobility and internal development and to advance it together. The creation of the stakeholder network is also intended to create the structural basis for applying for the next Leader funding period in 2020.

history

The Leinebergland region was a LEADER region from 2007 to 2013 and, thanks to funding from the European Union, was able to implement projects that strengthened and further developed the region. On the basis of a regional development concept (REK), the Leinebergland region has also applied for the LEADER funding period 2014–2020. When the application was rejected, the mayors of the municipalities involved founded the regional association in order to be able to continue working together on regional issues in this voluntary association without EU funding.
