The German noun registration or the verb register ; from the Latin regesta , from regerere ('to enter') denotes:

In technology
  • in the EDP, entering information in a directory, e.g. B.
    • Image registration , finding similarities in images in digital image processing
    • Domain registration
    • storing information in a registry , e.g. B. the Windows registry
    • the process required to obtain a user account, e.g. B.
      • to access an e-mail account or an online shopping portal
      • for access to manufacturer-licensed software
      • registering the ownership of hardware with the manufacturer in order to receive extended support if necessary, to secure longer warranty periods, etc.
      • with shareware the (chargeable) activation of the full range of functions
