Electricity meter for registering performance measurement, data transmission via GSM modem

The registering power measurement ( RLM ), also registering load profile measurement , describes a measuring process (by electricity or gas meter ) by energy suppliers at customers with an annual consumption of more than 100,000  kWh of electrical energy or more than 1.5 GWh of gas . Customers with an average power requirement of more than 500 kW can also use this measurement method. Standard load profiles are used for customers without a registered power measurement.

The measuring device per measuring period is detected (15 minutes at flow, 60 minutes at gas) a power value . The total of all mean power values, which are measured over an integer number of measurement periods, then gives the load profile .

These registered values are transmitted to the (distribution) network operator at regular intervals (immediately or on the following day) . This is done either directly via the power line , via the cellular network or an Internet connection .
