history

The valley was first mentioned as a property of the Alpirsbach monastery in 1299.

From the end of the 13th century to the beginning of the 19th century, the Reichenbächle was an exclave of the Alpirsbach monastery. The neighboring side valleys belonged and still belong to the village of Lehengericht , now part of Schiltach . Probably towards the end of the 17th century, the valley was attached to the Württemberg staff Rötenbach , but had its own Vogt and its own tax sovereignty. The meetings took place in the former Gasthaus Reichenbächle / Hof Unterreichenbächle, which served as the town hall of the suburb. Initially there were three large farms in the exclave, Oberreichenbächle, the Stammelhof and the Unterreichenbächle farm, which were later divided into several small farms.

Even after the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803, the valley remained an exclave of the community Rötenbach , which today belongs to Alpirsbach , and thus to Württemberg.

The valley was almost completely enclosed by Baden territory and could only be reached from Württemberg via forest paths. But it was oriented towards Schiltach or fiefdom, as it is today. Since the Reichenbächle was an exclave far away from the community of Rötenbach, in 1866, at the request of the residents, the Reichenbächle came to the neighboring community of Lauterbach , which was also part of Württemberg.

At the request of most of the then 37 residents and only after many other attempts, Reichenbächle was added to the community of Lehengericht in 1956. Until then, the farms had not been connected to the power grid, which the municipality of Lehengericht promised, and Lehengericht was much easier to reach, which led the residents to vote for Lehengericht. This reorganization was the first border correction in the newly founded southwest state of Baden-Württemberg .
