Reich Railway Directorate Opole
The Reichsbahndirektion Oppeln (full name: Reichsbahndirektion Oppeln, Oberschlesische Eisenbahnen ) was an administrative district of the Deutsche Reichsbahn .
history
The Katowice Railway Directorate was dissolved in 1922. The Reichsbahndirektion Opole was re-established for the routes previously managed by her that had remained in Germany . Its first president was Julius Dorpmüller , who later became General Director of the Reichsbahn and Reich Minister of Transport . At the same time, the Polish State Railways founded its own railway directorate in Katowice. To handle the remaining affairs of the dissolved German EBD Kattowitz, a "main processing center" was set up at the Reichsbahndirektion Opole, which maintained a branch in Katowice and organizationally worked like a department of the Opole Directorate.
In 1939, after the invasion of Poland , the area of management was enlarged by Polish routes. The area of this Reichsbahndirektion extended (until the end of the Second World War ) over the Prussian province of Upper Silesia . In 1945 the Reichsbahndirektion Opole was dissolved after the headquarters were relocated several times due to acts of war in the final months of the Second World War . The last president of the Reichsbahndirektion was Hans Geitmann , from 1957 a member of the board of the Deutsche Bundesbahn.
