The Reichskommissariat Netherlands (also known as the Reichskommissariat for the occupied Dutch territories ) was an administrative unit of the German civil administration of the occupied Netherlands during the Second World War . It replaced the German military administration that existed after the surrender of the Netherlands on May 14, 1940. The administration was headed by Arthur Seyß-Inquart . The Reichskommissariat for the occupied Dutch territories existed from May 29, 1940 to May 9, 1945, i.e. until shortly after the surrender of all German troops in northwest Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark on May 4th and 5th.
