Konrad Kwiet

Konrad Kwiet (born May 29, 1941 in Swinoujscie ) is a German-Australian historian .

Life

Kwiet studied history and political science in Berlin and Amsterdam. He received his doctorate in 1967 at the Free University of Berlin and completed his habilitation in 1974 at the Technical University of Berlin . In 1976 he accepted a position at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Konrad Kwiet is Professor Emeritus for German and European Studies at Macquarie University , Australia , and for Jewish Studies in Sydney . He headed the Australian crimes commission (SIU) and works at the Sydney Jewish Museum and was a historical expert in the Australian Ministry of Justice to investigate Nazi war crimes. In the 2001/2002 winter semester he taught at the TU Berlin as a visiting professor at the Center for Research on Antisemitism. He published important books and specialist articles on aspects of the persecution of Jews in Europe under the Nazi regime .
