from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rainer Erb (* 1945 ) is a sociologist , private lecturer and research associate at the Center for Research on Antisemitism at the Technical University of Berlin . Erb's main focus is on anti-Semitism research and related areas such as racism and right-wing extremism .

Life

As a graduate sociologist and religious scholar (Dr. rer. Pol.), Erb acquired the Dr. habil. His work focuses on Jews and Judaism in the Christian culture of the 19th and 20th centuries, the history and sociology of anti-Semitism.

From 1983 to 1994 he worked as a research assistant at the Center for Research on Antisemitism and from 1995 to 1998 as a research assistant at the Moses Mendelssohn Center at the University of Potsdam. Since 1996 he has been a private lecturer at the Center for Research on Antisemitism.

While in 1992 he found that attacks against foreigners were blamed for "right-wing extremists" across the board, he has been a sympathizer and defender of young anti-fascists since the mid-1990s and worries "about their sufficient presence in the cities".

In 2010, the scientists Michael Kohlstruck and Andreas Klärner dedicated their book Studies on Antisemitism and Right-Wing Extremism to Rainer Erb on the occasion of his 65th birthday.
