Rhyming abundance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Romance poetry, the number of similar sounding components ( phonemes ) in the metric of two rhyming verses is called the rhyme abundance . In German linguistics and literature , however, the term is rarely used.

Classification in Spanish

In Spanish, a distinction is made between rimas consonantes and rimas asonantes .

  • rimas consonantes : The phonemes from the last stressed vowel onwards are identical
Example : n obles - d obles
  • rimas asonantes : The vowels from the last stressed on are of the same phonetic quality
Example : á rb o l - c a mp o
An exception are the versos esdrújulos (stressed on the third from last syllable), where only the unison in the third from last syllable and the final syllable is decisive:
Examples : l á grim a - inform á tic a , tel é fon o - enciclop é dic o

Two verses that do not rhyme are called versos sueltos .

Classification in Italian

In Italian, a distinction is made between rima piana , rima sdrucciola and rima tronca . Two verses that do not rhyme are called versi sciolti ; this type of verse is particularly found in the recitatives of opera librettos.

Classification in French

In French, a distinction is made between rime faible , rime suffisante and rime riche .
