Reiner Peter Deutschmann (born June 29, 1953 in Kamenz ) is a German politician ( FDP ) and entrepreneur. From October 2009 to October 2013 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

biography

From 1960 to 1968 Reiner Deutschmann attended the III. Polytechnic secondary school (POS) in Kamenz . Then he went to the extended secondary school in Kamenz until 1972 , where he passed his Abitur . After doing basic military service from 1972 to 1974, he completed a degree in history and geography from 1974 to 1978 at the Humboldt University in Berlin , which he graduated with a diploma in 1978 .

From 1978 to 1980 Deutschmann worked as a teacher at the POS Hermsdorf near Dresden. He then worked for nine years as a teacher at the II POS in Kamenz. In June 1989 Deutschmann became city councilor for culture and was here a. a. also responsible for schools. Deutschmann has been involved in local, state and federal politics since the fall of the Wall . From April 1998 to August 2008 he was also head of the cultural operations of the Lessing town of Kamenz. In 2008, Deutschmann started his own business in the field of municipal and management consulting .

Political party

In 1987 Reiner Deutschmann joined the NDPD , which joined the FDP after the peaceful revolution. From 2005 to 2008 he was chairman of the FDP district association Kamenz. After the merger of the district associations Kamenz, Hoyerswerda and Bautzen, he was elected deputy chairman and in April 2012 chairman of the district association Bautzen. Since 2007 he has also been a member of the state executive committee and chairman of the state committee for culture and media of the FDP Saxony.

Public offices

1989–1994 Deutschmann was a member of the Kamenz city council, from 1990 to 1994 he held the office of the district council in the Kamenz district council . From June 1989 to May 1990 he served as city ​​councilor for culture and from June 1990 to August 2008 as an alderman for the city of Kamenz. From 1992 to 1999 he was also a member of the regional planning association Upper Lusatia - Lower Silesia . He is the chairman of KRABAT eV, an association for regional development in the bilingual Lausitz.

In the federal election on September 27, 2009 , Reiner Deutschmann entered the German Bundestag via the Saxony state list . In the FDP parliamentary group he was cultural policy spokesman, member of the working group on culture and media and social politician. Deutschmann has also been a member of the Bundestag's Foreign Affairs Committee since 2012. Due to the failure of his party to pass the five percent threshold in the 2013 federal election , he is no longer represented in the 18th Bundestag.
