Reinhard Barby

Reinhard Barby (born October 8, 1887 in Berlin , † September 27, 1974 in Feldberg ) was a German naturalist and local researcher .

The son of a railroad worker worked in the administration of an insurance company. My life and work stations were Potsdam -Rehbrücke in 1911 , Cologne in 1924 and Magdeburg in 1929 . In 1934 he bought a piece of land in Feldberg and devoted himself to the Feldberg lake landscape.

In his free time he was interested in the flora and fauna and also turned to astronomy. In 1947 he built a weather station. He later became the nature conservation officer of the Neustrelitz district . In 1969 he became an honorary citizen of Feldberg.

Reinhard Barby presented numerous publications on the Feldberger Lakes. A Feldberg monograph remained unfinished. His scientific legacy is kept in the Karbe-Wagner archive in Neustrelitz .
