Athletic career

After Reinhard Eschrich had gone through all the junior teams of the SC Chemie Halle and its successor HFC, from schoolchildren to juniors , he was used for the first time in the 1969/70 season in the men's team HFC II, which played in the second-rate GDR league . He played all nine league games by November 1969, after which he was drafted into the National People's Army . Since he had committed himself for three years, he was able to continue playing football with the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts Leipzig during this time . First Eschrich played another 17 GDR league games, but then the ASG rose to the third-rate district league . It succeeded in the 1970/71 season of the immediate rise, so that Eschrich could play again in the GDR league from 1971/72 with Vorwärts Leipzig. By October 1972 he was called up 24 times in 29 possible missions and came up with six goals. He then returned to HFC, where he was immediately used in the league team mainly as a midfielder. At the end of the season Eschrich experienced another relegation and found himself again in the GDR league in 1973/74. This time, too, the immediate resurgence took place, in which Eschrich was involved with 15 league games and three promotion games with a total of two goals. For the league season 1974/75 he was in the squad, but was only used in four point games, where he was only once in the starting line-up. Instead he played with the second team in the district league, which made it into the GDR league with him. In the 1975/76 season, Eschrich moved to the GDR division chemistry Buna Schkopau . After he had played thirteen of the 22 point games there, he joined the league competitor Dynamo Eisleben after a year . There he was initially a midfielder until he played in defense from 1979. Within six seasons, Eschrich completed 93 GDR league games for Dynamo Eisleben, in which he scored twelve goals. In the summer of 1982 he ended his career in high-class football. Between 1969 and 1982 he was used in 21 league games and scored one goal. In the GDR league he played 171 games in which he scored 21 goals.
