Reinhard Helbig

Reinhard Helbig (born July 6, 1938 in Bad Wilsnack ; † February 26, 2011 ) was a German physicist .

He studied physics at the Humboldt University in Berlin until the Wall was built , then in Erlangen, where he obtained his doctorate in 1970 on the production, analysis and properties of pure and doped ZnO single crystals and in 1975 on the subject of free and bound excitons in ZnO: current status of the Understanding the exciton spectrum of ZnO qualified as a professor.

From 1979, Helbig was Professor of Applied Physics at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg . From 1992 to 1997 he was chairman of the Association of Semiconductor Physics of the German Physical Society , and also editor of the book series Solid State Problems .

The focus of his scientific work was semiconductor physics and semiconductor materials.
