Reinhard Hoeps

Reinhard Hoeps (born June 27, 1954 in Odenkirchen ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1974 to 1983 he studied Catholic theology, philosophy and art history at the Universities of Bonn and Bochum (degrees: 1979 diploma in Catholic theology, 1980 1st state examination (sec. Ⅱ) in Catholic religious studies and philosophy, 1983 doctorate at the Catholic Theological Faculty from the University of Bonn and in 1988 habilitation at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn and the venia legendi for dogmatics and philosophy of religion ). From 1983 to 1988 he was a research assistant at the seminar for theology and its didactics at the educational science faculty of the University of Cologne and a member of the research project Theological Theory of Fine Arts in the 19th and 20th centuries. Century (funded by the Volkswagen Foundation ). From 1989 to 1993 he was senior assistant at the seminar for theology and its didactics at the educational science faculty of the University of Cologne . Since 1993 he has been teaching as a university professor for Catholic theology and its didactics (focus: systematic theology) at the Institute for Teacher Training of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Münster . Together with Alex Stock from the University of Cologne , Reinhard Hoeps founded the scientific series “IKON. Bild + Theologie “(Schoening-Verlag). In 1998 he founded the office for Christian image theory, theological aesthetics and image didactics at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Münster . Until 2012 he was chairman of the University Committee for Art and Culture at the WWU. From 2009 to 2015 he was the study commissioner and dean of studies for Faculty 02. From 2007 to 2015 he was chairman of the steering committee of Examination Office I at WWU.

Hoeps coordinates the master's program "Christianity in Culture and Society" at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Münster.

His main research interests are Christian image theory, theological aesthetics and image didactics, and creation theology and natural science.
