Reinhard Joachim Wabnitz (* 18th January 1952 in Nuremberg ) is a German legal scholar and professor at the RheinMain University in Wiesbaden ..

Live and act

Wabnitz studied law, political science, sociology and economics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and in Speyer . After passing the state examination in law, he was awarded a Dr. phil. and in 2005 at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main as Dr. jur. PhD . He worked in five federal and state ministries , as ministerial director from 1991 to 1998 in the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth . In 2000 he took over the professorship for law, in particular family , child and youth welfare law , at the social affairs department of the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden.

Wabnitz was and is engaged in numerous honorary and part-time functions, especially in the areas of child and youth welfare and hospital services. Since 2000 he has been chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate arbitration board in matters relating to child and youth welfare. From 2010 to 2013 he was chairman of the independent expert commission for the German government's 14th report on children and young people, and from 2016 to 2019 he was president of the Hessian Hospital Society . Since 2002 he has been a member and since 2008 deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the evangelical-diaconal clinic and elderly care association Agaplesion .

Wabnitz is the author of over 400 scientific papers, specialist publications and legal opinions, mainly on child and youth welfare law.
