Reinhard Klesczewski

Reinhard Klesczewski (born January 17, 1933 in Königsberg ; † December 5, 2011 in Düsseldorf ) was a German Romance and Italian studies and literary scholar.

Life

Reinhard Klesczewski ("Klesch") graduated from high school in Kiel in 1953. He studied in Kiel, Paris and Bologna. He received his doctorate in 1962 in Kiel with Hans Ludwig Scheel with the thesis The French translations of "Cortegiano" by Castiglione (published ud T. The French translations of Cortegiano by Baldassare Castiglione. Studies on the textual history of Courtisan and the translation style by Jean Chaperon (?) , Jean Colin, Mellin de Saint-Gelais (?), Gabriel Chappuis and Jean-Baptiste Duhamel , Heidelberg 1966). He and his teacher went to Saarland University in 1963, where he completed his habilitation there in 1978, investigating the structure of the early Romance novella: Boccaccio 'Il Decameron' . In 1979 he moved to the University of Düsseldorf and was Professor of Romance Philology there until his retirement.
