Reinhard Kuretzky

Reinhard Kuretzky (born December 1, 1947 in Delmenhorst ) is a former German athlete. He was German pole vault champion in 1972 and took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

Kuretzky started for SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen from 1970 to 1978 . After he finished seventh in the German championships in 1971, he won in 1972 with 5.20 m and thus qualified for the Olympic Games in Munich. There he improved his personal best to 5.30 m, in fourth place he was only five centimeters behind the third-placed American Jan Johnson .

1973 Kuretzky became German indoor champion with 5.20 m. 1973 and 1975 outdoors and 1974 and 1975 indoors, he was runner-up four times. 1974 Kuretzky was fourth with 5.20 m at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg. On July 25, 1974 he set his personal best with 5.33 m in Bayreuth. With a height of 1.84 m, his competition weight was 76 kg.

He studied mechanical engineering and sports in Aachen and worked as a teacher at a school in Düsseldorf.
