Reinhard MG Nickisch

Reinhard Martin Georg Nickisch (born July 2, 1933 in Hünern , Ohlau district , Lower Silesia province ) is a German specialist in German . Until 1998 he was a lecturer in modern German literature at the University of Göttingen .

Life

Nickisch was born as the eldest of seven children to a village baker. From the summer of 1943 he attended secondary school in Brzeg . In June 1946, the family was like almost all Germans from the home sold . Nickisch later described the events of flight and expulsion in his memory book Helle Jahre - Growing Shadows , the following years up to high school graduation in Neheim, Westphalia in March 1955 in the follow-up volume How I settled into freedom abroad .

After studying German and history at the Universities of Münster and Munich , he passed the assessor exam in 1965 and initially worked as a high school teacher in Münster. From 1968 he was a lecturer at the University of Göttingen, where he was awarded a Dr. phil. received his doctorate and remained active until the end of his professional career. For one year (1989–1990) he was a visiting professor at the University of Illinois , USA.

Nickisch is married and has two daughters.
