Reinhard Mehlhorn

Reinhard Mehlhorn (born September 18, 1948 in Steina bei Döbeln ) is a former German wrestler, trainer and current functionary.

He grew up in Schneeberg in the Ore Mountains and began with 10 years in bismuth Aue with the rings . After regional successes he moved to SG Dynamo Luckenwalde and was GDR youth champion in the class up to 57 kg, freestyle in 1966. In 1967 he was GDR junior champion and in 1970 and 1971 GDR champion in bantamweight, freestyle.

In 1972 he started at the European Championships in freestyle wrestling in Katowice in bantamweight and finished there with a win over Hatzioannidis, Greece , a draw against Lászlá Klinga, Hungary and a defeat against Nicolae Dumitru, Romania , the 7th place.

Due to injury he had to stop wrestling. After a distance learning to become a qualified sports teacher at the DHfK Leipzig , he acquired the trainer's license and in 1986 became head trainer at the children's and youth sports school in Luckenwalde. Before that he was also successful as a trainer in the senior division of SG Dynamo Luckenwalde. He also had a very large share in Roland Dudziak's title of vice world champion in 1985. After the fall of the Wall in 1990, he made himself available to the Brandenburg Wrestling Association , of which he was temporarily president, and had been state coach since 1995. Since 2007 he has been working as an educator at the OSP Frankfurt / Oder.
