Reinhard Pfriem (born March  31, 1949 in Wuppertal ) is a German economist .

Reinhard Pfriem studied politics and philosophy and then economics at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Bochum . He received his doctorate in business administration from the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . His habilitation took place at the University of St. Gallen with Peter Ulrich . He was a lecturer in business administration at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences . Since 1994 he has taught as a professor for corporate management and corporate environmental policy at the Institute for Business Administration and Business Education at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg . He officially retired on January 17, 2017.

Reinhard Pfriem is the initiator (1985) and co-founder of the Institute for Ecological Economic Research and was its managing director until 1990. In the field of ecologically oriented corporate management, he was awarded the environmental prize of the Federal German Working Group for Environmentally Conscious Management (BAUM) in 1996. In 1993 he was a founding partner of ecology and communication Unternehmensberatung GmbH, Oldenburg. He was chairman of the sustainability-oriented company network ONNO e. V. in East Friesland and initiator of the Spiekeroog climate talks, which took place annually from 2009 to 2016 on the East Frisian island.

His research interests include strategic management , sustainable business strategies , corporate social responsibility of companies and the ( culturalist ) theory of the firm.
