Reinhard Posch (born April 16, 1951 in Graz ) is an Austrian computer scientist .

Life

He studied technical mathematics (information processing) at the Graz University of Technology , where he obtained his diploma in 1973 and later also obtained his doctorate. From 1974 he was a university assistant at Graz University of Technology, in 1984 he became a university professor and in 1986 head of the newly founded Institute for Applied Information Processing and Information Technology and the youngest full professor at Graz University of Technology.

Reinhard Posch has been Chief Information Officer for the Austrian Federal Government since 2001 and heads the Digital Austria Platform , is also the scientific director of the Center for Secure Information Technology (A-SIT) and was head of the Board of Directors of ENISA (European Network and Information Security Agency).

In 2010, as a member of the “Council of IT Wise Men”, he advised Commissioners Kroes and Sefkovic in the areas of ICT security. Since 2011 he has also been a member of the Steering Board of the European Cloud Partnership.

He became known to the general public, together with Hermann Maurer , as a co-inventor of the Austrian screen text terminal MUPID .
