Reinhard Stewig

Reinhard Gottfried Stewig (born February 25, 1929 in Breslau ; † March 13, 2016 in Kiel ) was a German geographer , author and teacher . In addition to intensive occupation with geography as a whole, he wrote extensive works on the changing structures within the Orient .

biography

Reinhard Gottfried Stewig, son of of Köben Oder originating elementary school teacher Friedrich Wilhelm Stewig (1886-1945) and from Vienna born coming figure skater Marie Voges (1888–1973), fled to Flensburg with his mother in 1945. In 1957 he passed his academic state examination at the University of Kiel, and a year later he obtained a doctorate in geography in Kiel. From 1959 to 1961 he taught geography and English at high schools in Kiel and Hamburg. He then worked for 10 years at the Geographic Institute in Kiel. In 1969 he received the Venia Legendi for geography at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , where he was also professor of geography from 1972 until his retirement in 1991.

In the course of his life he wrote various geographic books, which focused mainly on Schleswig-Holstein and the Orient.

He was with the headmistress Erika geb. Kelting (1925 - 2007) married - the marriage remained childless.
