Reinhart W. Wettmann (born April 10, 1936 ) is a German lawyer and economist .

Life

Wettmann studied law and theology (Karl Barth, Paul Tillich) at the University of Basel and the University of Hamburg , at Swarthmore College , USA ( Fulbright Scholar ) and at the Pennsylvania Law School , and graduated in 1964 with an LL.M. from.

After passing the 1st and 2nd state examinations in law, he worked from 1970 to 1973 as a research assistant and lecturer at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and as a research assistant in the Hessian State Chancellery . He was then a Senior Research Fellow at the Science Center Berlin until 1981 .

From 1981 to 1988 Wettmann was director at the Prognos Institute Basel , from 1989 to 2001 delegate of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Caracas . From 1974 to 2001 he worked as an advisor to the European Commission , OECD, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.

He has been married to Carolina Cerda-Williamson since 1980 and has two daughters. He lives in Freiburg and Paris.
