Location of the city

Reinosa is the largest city and the administrative center of the Comarca Campoo-Los Valles in the Spanish province of Cantabria .

geography

The city is located in a sparsely populated high region in the Cantabrian Mountains. Reinosa is located near the Ebro reservoir and is surrounded by mountains, most of which protrude above the tree line .

economy

Reinosa and the surrounding villages concentrate economically on the production of agricultural products, especially milk and vegetables. Along the A67 motorway there is a small industrial area which, in addition to the food production facilities, is mainly characterized by a steel mill belonging to the Brazilian Gerdau group. Tourism is primarily focused on mountaineers or anglers who are on day trips. There are hardly any hotels in the city, but there are still a large number of shops and restaurants. The small town is known for its pancakes.

Reinosa is located on the A67 motorway, which crosses the A8 motorway ( Oviedo - Santander ) in Torrelavega and leads there through a high valley into the mountains. There the country is initially so sparsely populated that only small villages a few kilometers apart can be seen. Reinosa is on the Santander- Palencia railway line and is the end of the line 1 of the Cercanías Santander S-Bahn . Some of this line is only single-track, which means that very few trains pass through to Reinosa. As a result, there are very few train connections every day. A drive to Santander takes just under two hours.
