Travel blog

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A travel blog is a variant of the weblog . It is aimed at travelers who want to find out more about an upcoming trip . Basically, it is about everything to do with holidays, including information about flights and hotels in the destination region. Travel blogs are used to tell travel stories and share advice information. In addition to texts and photos, videos are also included.

Many travel blogs are non-commercial platforms, but in recent years there has been a clear professionalization in the field of travel blogs and more and more commercial models are emerging. Some travel bloggers make a living from their blog.

In such cases, the blogs are monetized through affiliate marketing , sponsored posts, digital products (e-books, online courses), or physical products (travel paraphernalia).

In 2010, Grimme Prize winner Johannes Klaus founded Reiseepeschen.de, a highly regarded travel blog portal that collects travel reports from various authors. Johannes Klaus sees the main difference to conventional travel guides in the fact that they do not allow any “subjective impressions”. The aim of travel blogs should be to supplement the print versions.
