Johannes Klaus (born February 28, 1981 in Weinheim ) is a German publisher , travel blogger , graphic designer and editor of several websites and books for narrative travel literature .

Life

In 2000 he graduated from high school . He became a graphic designer and lived in Mannheim from 2004 to 2014 . He has lived in Berlin since 2014 . In 2011 he received the Grimme Online Award (category: culture and entertainment) for his travel blog reisedepesche.de, founded in 2010 . There he reports on his travels a. a. a fourteen month trip around the world . He is also a founding member of the travel blogger collective , a network of seven leading travel bloggers from German-speaking countries.

In 2013 he founded the leading German-language travel blog portal reisedepeschen.de , on which 15 to 20 other selected authors publish their travel reports and videos. The portal focuses on well-told stories and experiences from traveling.

In November 2014 he founded the travel storytelling portal The Travel Episodes , on which so-called scrollytelling reports by selected travel authors are published. These reports use full-screen video clips , photos and animations to tell personal travel stories in addition to the texts.

In 2016 and 2017 Johannes Klaus published three books with Malik National Geographic ( Piper Verlag ): "The Travel Episodes: A story of wanderlust and freedom", "The Travel Episodes: New stories for adventurers, adventurers and daydreamers", Malik National Geographic and " The Travel Episodes: New Travel Stories from Every End of the World ", which collected the best stories from various authors on its portals. The fourth volume "The Travel Episodes: About the pleasure of traveling alone" was announced for 2019.

In 2018 Johannes Klaus founded the Reiseepeschen Verlag together with Marianna Hillmer in order to set new impulses in the travel book market. Travel guides, illustrated books and reading books are published, which are intended to encourage conscious and sustainable travel, and which are designed and manufactured to a particularly high quality. In June 2018, the publisher was selected from 456 submissions for the Frankfurt Book Fair wildcard.
