African Union passport

The passport of the African Union ( English African Union Passport ), also African passport (English African Passport ) is an official passport that is issued by the African Union . It is currently being issued to citizens of all African countries in parallel to national passports . The aim is to replace national passports in the future and to enable visa-free travel for all Africans on the continent.

The AU passport was presented on July 17, 2016 at the 27th AU State Congress in Kigali , the capital of Rwanda . It should be recognized worldwide by 2020.

The pass is written in Arabic , English , French , Portuguese and Swahili . He is red.

Passport types

There are three types of AU passports:

Ordinary passport
This passport is issued to all African citizens, contains 32 pages and is valid for five years.
Service passport
Issued only to employees of government agencies and only for business travel.
Diplomatic passport
Issue only to diplomats and consular employees and their immediate relatives; only for business travel.
