Location of Reiser in Bergisch Gladbach |
Reiser is a district in the Kaule district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The Reiser settlement was first mentioned in 1487 in Bensberg's tax, lease and tribute lists as a travel property . The original cadastre contains the settlement name with the tub designations Reiserfeld and Reiserfeldwiese , which are recorded south of the Kauler village center. In the 17th century, the name of the settlement is called Reisser . In 1515 the goods were transferred to the church of the Bensberg parish. The goods list drawn up in 1669 names two goods that were in the Reisern : the goods of Johann Curten and Wupper Jahn.
Etymologically , the settlement name Reiser is derived from the Old High German "hris" or the Middle High German "ris" (= tree branches, brushwood, bushes). This means either a piece of forest in which it is permitted to remove brushwood for agricultural purposes, or a coppice forest that is predominantly made up of shrubs and bushes.
