Welscherheide is a district in the Kaule district of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The settlement name Welscherheide picks up on the tub designation Auf der Welscherheide , which is recorded in the original cadastre west of the former settlement Auf'm Sand ( Sand ). The Hofsiedlung, which emerged from a medieval settlement, was probably only given the name Welscherheide in the 18th century.

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as W elschheid and on the Prussian first survey of 1840 as Welsche Heid . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly listed on measuring table sheets as Welscher Heide or without a name.

Due to the Cologne Act , the city of Bensberg was merged with Bergisch Gladbach to form the city of Bergisch Gladbach with effect from January 1, 1975. Welscherheide also became part of Bergisch Gladbach.
