The equestrian monument of Wilhelm III. is a memorial in the Scottish city ​​of Glasgow . In 1966 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

The monument commemorates the English King Wilhelm III. The former governor of Fort St. George , James Macrae , donated the statue in 1735. The sculptor has not survived. However, there are parallels to a statue in Kingston upon Hull , England , which the Dutch sculptor Peter Scheemakers created.

The equestrian monument was once located near the market cross on Trongate . It has been moved to its current location in Cathedral Square near St Mungo's Cathedral .

The bronze statue rests on a high pedestal of granite . It shows the king sitting on a horse. The horse's tail was once mounted with a ball joint to allow movement in the wind.
