Irritation
Reizei ( Japanese 冷泉 天皇 , Reizei-tennō ; * June 12, 950 ; † November 21, 1011 ) was from 967 to 969 the 63rd Tennō of Japan . He was a son of Murakami tennō, his mother was descended from the Fujiwara clan.
Because he had a mental illness, his father didn't want him to be crown prince. Due to the political pressure exerted on the Tennō from his mother's house ( Fujiwara ), he came into office. Political power lay with the regent ( Kampaku ) Fujiwara no Saneyori (900–970).
Reizei was the father of the later Kazan -tennō, born on October 26, 968, and of the later Sanjō -tennō, born on February 5, 976 . .
He gave up the throne prematurely, initially in favor of his brother.
