Rejected Youth was a German punk band from Nuremberg that was active from 1998 to 2012.

history

It all began in the summer of 1998 when Matze (Magenta Caulfield) and Keks founded the Rejected Youth project, which was supposed to be short-lived. The music and lyrics came from old US hardcore bands at the time. But the cover was not exactly the fulfillment of the two musicians, and so six months later they really got going with Andy Pfeifer on bass, wrote their own lyrics and songs and were more oriented towards traditional punk rock: direct and rough, dirty and uncomfortable. The musicians were also well aware of the responsibility that a band has, and so the lyrics became more and more political and critical. At the end of 1999 the first and only demo tape Millennium was created . Three days after the release, the band already had a record deal with Streetmusic Berlin, which in 2000 produced the 7 ″ EP Screwballs . In 2001 the band changed labels and released the 10 ″ LP / CD Not For Phonies in the same year . This was also the time when Andy Braun joined the band as the second guitarist.

Just in time for the first major tour of Germany in August 2002, the four of them immediately followed suit and produced their debut album 21st Century Loser , which was released as a 12 ″ LP / CD. However, it was already clear during the recording that Andy Pfeifer would quit for private reasons, and so the band had to quickly start looking for a new bass player for the tour with Backslide . Kalle, who had made music with Keks und Matze in the mid-1990s, stepped in and became a full member after a short time. Many individual concerts followed and the highlight was a two-week US East Coast tour. On this occasion, the recordings for the 7 ″ EP Awesome CBGB's, which appeared in December 2003, were also made in the legendary CBGBs in New York . In 2004 Andy Braun and Rejected Youth parted ways, but that in no way set the band back. The three played shows with Voice of a Generation , the Beat.Em.Down Festival, the Force Attack Festival and on their own two-week tour of Germany in the summer. When the EP No Police State Coalition was released on the label MSM1279 and Twisted Chords founded by Matze in autumn, the recordings for the second long player Angry Kids , which will be released in March 2005, were already completed at the same time . And this album was to become a milestone in the band's history. Songs like Antifascista , A Threat Again or Bad Boys Attack are still her best known and perhaps also most important songs. After the subsequent European tour, Kalle left the band and Rejected Youth played their last show on June 25, 2005.

A year and a half later, Matze and Keks decided to continue their project, and they found new band members with Andy Chaos on guitar and Sancho on bass. Even if you weren't quite sure at first how people would react to this “reunion”, 2007 turned out to be the best year the band had ever experienced. The new album Public Disorder hit like a bomb and became a bestseller after just a few months - for both Rejected Youth and Concrete Jungle Records . They received an offer from Muttis Booking Berlin to accompany The Unseen on their European tour, which the band of course immediately accepted. And although the whole tour was a complete success, the show in her hometown of Nuremberg should be the absolute highlight: 700 spectators - sold out.

The following year Concrete Jungle Records and Block Action Music organized a festival to celebrate their 10th anniversary with Rejected Youth and invited all fans, friends and many companions. Exclusively for this evening, the newly recorded 4-track MCD Rejected Forever Forever Rejected (including the song Black Army with guest singer Mark Civitarese from The Unseen ) was given away to the first 500 visitors. This was later published again as Black Army EP. But another special feature awaited the 700 guests. In addition to the band itself, many studio guests also took part, so Rejected Youth was able to present the songs live for the first time as they were produced in the studio. And her old bassist Kalle took over his part again for some songs. Last but not least, the whole evening was recorded by a camera team and in spring 2009 as DVD Rejected Forever Forever Rejected - 10 Years Rejected Youth with a total playing time of almost 60 minutes many extras like a hidden track , radio interview and picture gallery. After that, unfortunately, a “creative break” had to be taken due to a broken hand of the lead guitarist.

During the break that came with it, the band took a breather, recharged their batteries and at the beginning of 2010 went "on the road again". After many individual shows, summer festivals and the “5 Years Concrete Jungle Label Tour” it was time to retreat to the rehearsal room to work intensively on new songs that were recorded in spring 2011 and appeared on the fourth album Fuck the Consent .

In the summer of 2012, Rejected Youth finally disbanded.
