Relict Lake

The Relict Lake (English for survivor Staffelsee is) a small lake on Deception Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located southeast of Pendulum Cove .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1957. Its name is the fact that, according to the surveys carried out between January and March 1829 by Lieutenant Edward Nicholas Kendall (1800–1845) of the Royal Navy , a crew member on the Antarctic voyage of HMS Chanticleer (1827 –1831), which Pendulum Cove at that time was a larger area than it is today and the lake is a relic of this area.
