Rellys

Rellys , born as Henri Marius Roger Bourrelly (born December 13, 1905 in Marseille , France , † July 20, 1991 ibid) was a French actor , popular mainly in folk plays.

Life

Born in Henri Marius Roger Bourrelly, he had completed an apprenticeship as a pastry chef, but spent every free minute in the Alcazar of his hometown of Marseille, where he took his first steps as a singer in 1925, initially as an amateur. The more experienced colleague Andrée Turcy , a prominent local star , took Rellys on her tour to what was then still French North Africa. Together with his colleagues Henri Alibert and René Sarvil , Rellys finally formed a comedian trio that celebrated a number of successes with the southern French pieces Au pays de soleil, Titin des Martigues and Trois de la Marine , most recently in Paris.

In 1933 Au pays de soleil was adapted for the cinema, and Rellys was brought out there big for the cinema audience. From then on, southern, Provençal French of all kinds became his subject, simple, bucolic types from the country with a simple mind and sun in their hearts. With his impoverished pilot Narcisse in the movie outfit of the same name, Rellys was able to land a great public and box office success in 1939. His best-known film (and quite typical for his role) is Taboos, the story of a simple, lonely and unloved farmer of the same name in the Cevennes , who dreams of his great, unattainable love Julia, the daughter of a rich landowner.

Rellys, who had also participated in a wide range of television productions, was a partner of his fellow comedian Fernandel in Marseille, most recently in his farewell performance His last friend, an old man's love for his horse. He also belonged to the ensemble of the Parisian Théâtre de la Ville until the late 1970s.
