Remi Rabenirina

Remi Joseph Rabenirina (born March 6, 1938 ) is a former Anglican Bishop of the Malagasy Diocese of Antananarivo and Archbishop of the Church of the Province of the Indian Ocean from 1995 to 2005.

Life

Rabenirina received his education from the University of Madagascar . After a brief teaching career, he was ordained an Anglican priest in 1967 . He was first Parish Priest at St James' Toamasina and subsequently Vicar at St Matthew’s Antsiranana and at St John's Ambohimangakely .

In 1984 he was elected Bishop of Antananarivo . He retired from this post in 2008. In 1995 he was also elected Archbishop of the Church of the Province of the Indian Ocean . He held this post until 2005. For his writing activities he was honored as Chevalier, Officier et Commandeur des Ordre Nationale Malgache .
