René Ducassou-Pehau
René Ducassou-Pehau (born July 11, 1927 , † July 15, 2006 in Labourd ) was a French automobile designer .
Career
Born in Basque , he had been employed by the car manufacturer Panhard since March 1, 1960 , where he worked as an engineer for the Bureau d'Études et de Recherches Carrosserie (BERC) , the body development and testing department. Louis Bionier initially commissioned him with stylistic revisions of the PL17 model before Ducassou-Pehau took care of the V527 project , later the Panhard 24 , together with André Jouan . After Panhard was completely taken over by Citroën in 1965, Ducassou-Pehau and Bionier were largely responsible for the design of the Dyane , supported by the later designer of the Citroën SM and CX, Robert Opron .
René Ducassou-Pehau is considered to be the inventor of the steering wheel with a fixed hub , as it was implemented in the Citroën C4 from 2004 .
